The CE4CE project is started in April 2023 and reduces the ecological footprint of public transport through a higher circularity.

The partners identify circularity gaps and develop innovative circular economy models for planners and operators. They provide guidance on how to incorporate circular economy principles into procurement processes for services and infrastructure and design more circular products and business models.

trolley:motion’s main motivation for the participation in CE4CE is to improve the framework conditions for a transition towards zero-emission bus systems and to foster cooperation between policy, manufacturers, transport companies and municipalities. Circular economy is a crucial approach for trolley:motion’s members in order to increase efficiency of modern trolleybus systems, i.e. both infrastructure and vehicles. trolley:motion wants to pioneer the Circular Economy for the sustainable design of bus systems and act as a knowledge hub in the future – in cooperation with UITP (the world association for public transport) and ICLEI (and its Circular Cities Declaration). trolley:motion brings its competences in communication work around sustainable solutions for zero-emission bus systems to the project and will use its network of more than 5,000 international contacts, communication media such as its website, which already acts as a knowledge hub for an international community, as well as newsletters and regular events, from policy workshops to conferences with several hundred participants. In addition, trolley:motion contributes with its competences in the development of recommendations and capacities around the design of sustainable transport solutions, as implemented e.g. in the projects TROLLEY (Central Europe), ACTUATE (Intelligent Energy Europe), ELIPTIC (H2020) or TROLLEY 2.0 (ERA-NET / H2020).
